Halloween Altered Art Tags

Here are some Altered Art Halloween tags that I created as well.........so many possibilities! LOL

Altered Art Holiday Tags

It has been WAY to long since I have updated my blog.........and so I am finally cleaning it up and showing some pics of things that I have been working on over the past few months........which maybe isn't a whole lot, but I am making a vow to myself to post something new at least twice a month, no matter how small the project.

So I will start by posting some holiday hang tags that I have made using Altered Art Graphics from Lisa's Altered Art. They are really fun to make and I experimented with textured snow on the Christmas tags to give them some extra depth.

My Latest Creation

I wanted to try a round headed rabbit and this is what I came up with!

He needs something to hold or a whimsical banner to complete his look.........I am open to any suggestions! LOL

His face has been handpainted and I handpainted the circles on his hat to give it some color and added some white fluff around the bottom to add some whimsy and then I put a large rusty bell on top.

Gave him a double ruffle around his neck with a red/black print on top and a black print on the bottom.

His legs are striped and little bells have been added to the bottom of his pant legs.
I will post another picture of him when I get him completed, but just wanted to give you a little sneak preview. LOL

Hugs and Blessings!

My Winning Bunny!

I entered into the Spring Bunny challenge that The Painted Daisy Crafting community was having and my guy WON!!

He was so much fun to make and create!
The pattern was by Sweetpea Primitives and then I added my own whimsical touches to him.

He is now up for adoption on eBay.......so feel free to place a bid and offer him a loving home!

I Am On A Roll!

I finished up a Valentine Heart for a gift exchange that I am doing at my house on Sunday.
A bunch of girls get together for what is called "Brag Night" and we each bring something yummy to eat.......my theme is Pasta and Chocolate.......and we sit around and eat and then we go around the circle of girls and talk about things we are Thankful for or accomplishments that we have made since we last got together. There is ABSOLUTELY no Griping or Complaining allowed.......because after all it is easier to sit and complain about our lives than to sit and reflect on the good things that we have in our lives.
It really gets you thinking!

Can't wait to see who picks my bag! :O)

Come Meet Old Salem!

So one of the poor babies crying out to me to finish was Old Salem the Witch Cat!
She has been lying on a corner of my crafting table since October.......BAD, SO BAD!!!

Well I went in there this past weekend and finally brought Salem to life! I'm just hoping she doesn't retaliate by casting a little spell on me for leaving her sit faceless for so long! LOL

She has been created using a Primitive Pear pattern and then I added my own whimsical touches to her.
Her face is all hand painted, as is her hat. I painted silver circles on her hat for a whimsical touch and added a big rusty bell to the top. I added the vintage green tinsel around her neck for a bit of color and to bring out the green in her eyes.
And her grubby banner has been all hand written by little ole me! heeheehee

She is currently looking for a good home where she can practice her spells and create her potions.....all harmless of course! LOL

Hugs and Blessings to you all!

Wendy

A Bit of a Crafting Slump

Ugggghhhh, I hate when this happens!
I get projects in my head that I want to start creating and when I've gotten them all sewn up......I put them down on my craft table to tend to something else and then I forget about them!
Then when I finally hear them calling my name I sit and stare at them.......kind of a "crafters fog", a dazed look on my face (the Patrick Star effect if you will........Uhhhh Duhhhhh) while I try to invision what they will look like when I'm done.
What kind of face should they have, stitched or painted.......should they be more primitive or primsical (prim with a touch of whimsy added).......what kind of clothes.......blah, blah, blah, blah!

I have things crying out to be finished that are 6 months or more old............Aggggggghhhhhh, somebody help me snap out of this!!

Is there an energy drink or a pill out there for Crafter's Slump? LOL

Hanley's Cinnamon House

I really had to give a 'Shout Out' to Anne of Hanley's Cinnamon House for the AMAZING graphics that she creates!
I contacted her last year to make a Logo for my website and I described just what I wanted and she created an AWESOME logo!
Well I realized that I needed a Blog Topper for my blog, as my logo was a bit too small to fill the space. So I contacted Anne and she created a blog topper, with a splash of red, to go with my blog background.
Hanley's Cinnamon House has Top Notch customer service and super quick turnaround time, not to mention very reasonable prices!
Anne is such a pleasure to work with!!

So if your looking for a banner, logo, blog topper or ad button and want something totally Vintage/Primitive and Unique.........then head on over to:

and let her know that Wendy @ Simply Cute Crafts sent you!

My Super Awesome Bear Head Make-Do!

My friend Shay at Olde Colonial Peddler created this AWESOME Bear Head Make-Do just for me!!

After seeing her other wonderful creations I asked if she would be up to a little challenge.........making a Bear Head! LOL I am a bear collector and just knew that I had to have something bear related to fit in with my Primitive and Country decor!

Well Shay came through with flying colors and the end result was more than I could have imagined!!!

He is just so AWESOME and the detail is AMAZING!!!

So I am sending my good friend Shay a HUGE HUG of Thanks for creating something so special just for me!

My Snowman is DONE!!!

I finally finished up my snowman! It only took me 3 weeks! LOL
Well I was down with the stomach bug for almost 2 so I had an excuse! LOL

I decided to give my snowman a sleepy time look with a striped night cap, instead of a black top hat since his red snowflake shirt was kinda looking girly to me. I added a warm n natural collar and a rusty bell to his shirt and mica dusted his gloved hands and feet.

He is SUPER cute in person, it's so hard to really capture his essence on camera.

He was made using a Sweet Meadows Farm pattern.

He is now officially up for grabs!! LOL

Hand Painted Dough Ornies......Where'd They Go?

I came across pics of some of the many hand painted dough ornies that I've done over the years and wondered if they were still even popular. So I did a search on the internet and on eBay and they are almost non-existent! You can find plain dough ornies to mix in with your fixins, but not too many painted ones.

The one thing about making them was sometimes you got batches that would crack and you'd have to start all over or you'd get them all painted and sealed and find an annoying crack on the back. One custom order I remember doing was for strawberries and I decided that I would scent the dough with strawberry FO.........I lost half my order because of cracking! I was sooo mad!!

Now painting them was a labor of love and I remember many a late night and a very stiff neck!

Wholesale orders were something you wanted, but yet at the same time dreaded only because of all the work put into these little dough creations.

But all in all I loved making them and loved all the GREAT customer feedback......just sad that the demand for painted dough ornies has slowly faded away.

Can't tell you how many bins of ornies I have sitting around collecting dust! LOL

Anybody out there still make them?

She's Alllll Done!

Well I keep thinking that she needs something else......which just drives me nuts.......but I guess sometimes "less is more" so I will just leave her be.

I really LOVE her.....you have to see her and hold her in person to really get the full effect of her sweet little face. When I pick her up it's like she's looking right at you and I can already tell that I am going to have a very hard time putting her up for sale.........it's NOT like I can't make another one right?? LOL

So I guess in the next day or so I will start making another Round Headed creation.......hmmmm, will it be an Annie or a Snowman? Guess you'll just need to stay tuned and see! LOL

Almost Done!

So I'm not the 'speediest' doll maker there ever was! LOL

I am very picky about my work and therefore it sometimes takes me a week or more to finish one doll.......Ok, something I really need to work on!

Well she now has her arms and legs and a head full of hair......some rosey cheeks and last but not least, a little heart.

I am pretty pleased with how she has turned out so far, BUT.......the clothes are what is really bugging me right now. I am a visual person and written instructions for the clothes are leaving me kind of feeling like Patrick......you know, Sponge Bob's pink friend.......Uhhhhh Duhhhhh! LOL

I would like to just go into my sewing room and whip out an outfit for her in record time, but I already know what will happen. I will sit there and read and then re-read the instructions and then trace out my pattern and then sit at my machine and re-read the instructions yet again!!

Why can't this be easy for me??

Well if anybody has a video tutorial or knows of a really great video tutorial on making clothes for your annies and such......can you please post it or email me with it?

Please, Please......help me lose the Patrick image!!! LOL

So today I will be in my sewing room working on annies outfit and once I get it done and my dollie dressed, I will be posting pics so you can see my finished creation!

Have a GREAT Day!

My Attempt At A Round-Headed Doll

So I have to confess that I am obsessed with Primitive Patterns, half of which I have not even attempted to make! LOL

But when I saw this pattern by Sweet Meadows Farm........well, I had to have it!! I'm telling you it's an obsession and it has to STOP before my sewing room is filled to the ceiling with nothing but patterns!

Where would I sew? LOL

So with a multitude of sewing projects sitting around unfinished, I sat down and traced out the pattern for an annie and away I went. The head was a little trickier than I thought it would be, but she did come out with a round head and doesn't look like E.T.......although hubby thought she did! But I really don't care.......I think she's beautiful even though she doesn't have any hair and her arms and legs aren't attached and she's nekked! LOL
